Connect EasyOCR to Label Studio

Overview

EasyOCR is a lightweight Optical Character Recognition (OCR) engine that extracts text from images in multiple languages. When combined with Label Studio, it helps automate text detection and transcription tasks, reducing the need for manual data entry and accelerating document processing, digitization, and annotation workflows.

How it connects to Label Studio

EasyOCR integrates with Label Studio through the Label Studio ML Backend. When the EasyOCR backend is connected to a project, Label Studio sends image data to the service, which runs OCR on the images and returns predictions as pre-annotations. These predictions include detected text regions, bounding boxes, and transcribed text, all displayed directly in the labeling interface for review or correction.
This integration makes it easy to incorporate OCR automation into your labeling workflows, improving accuracy and throughput across both Community and Enterprise editions of Label Studio.
